Best practice is key to delivering the optimum solutions that make an impact - and Brightwave is at the forefront of establishing a culture of quality e-learning in the UK.

Benefits of e-learning
E-learning offers many opportunities for companies to enhance employee engagement and business performance. The days of face-to-face training are numbered - with waffle and flipcharts being rapidly replaced by learning that is online, on-demand and on message.

In a time when a quarter of all businesses are allocating a third or more of their training budget to learning technologies (compared to one in ten in 2008) it is imperative that their first exposure to e-learning is a positive one. (A quarter of organisations cite poor previous experience as a barrier to adoption.) Source: Towards Maturity 2010 Benchmark report.

Introducing e-learning can require slight cultural shift within an organisation - but the multiple benefits outweigh any fears of venturing outside perceived comfort zones. As well as significant efficiency savings, switching to e-learning can also ensure consistency of learner experience, provide an immersive learner-centric environment and produce a more productive and engaged workforce.

What is LiveTime?

It's a unique interactive learning channel delivering a full programme of live, webinar-based twenty minute business training sessions developed by Brightwave - the e-learning development company of the year 2009/10.

Launched in June 2010, LiveTime already has more than a hundred 20-minute bite-sized sessions on aspects of management and leadership, organisational skills and exploring better ways to communicate.

What are the benefits?

An interactive online solution bridges the gap between traditional face-to-face training and e-learning - consequently maximizing the positive aspects of both:

  • overcomes waste - no travel, hotel or training room booking costs
  • significant savings - substituting two days of classroom training per month (not including above costs) can pay for 500 LiveTime yearly subscriptions
  • allows managers / trainers to focus on delivering key messaging
  • gives learners control over their study - as well as peer groups with which to share views and resources and solve problems collectively
  • no 'lost' training - plenty of repeat sessions and recordings for catch-up

I’d like to see a lot more liaison with stakeholders outside of L&D. If we’re not talking to people and understanding what they need, we’re going to remain in the ghetto.” Donald H Taylor, keynote debate Chair
