Clyde Valley Councils invest in new collaborative e-learning service from Brightwave
New cost-effective ‘shared’ online training service to drive efficiency and develop best practice for Scottish Local Government
Clyde Valley Learning and Development Group (CVLDG), covering eight Scottish councils and over 100,000 employees, today confirms Brightwave’s appointment to deliver a new e-learning service over the next three years.
Brightwave’s new service for CVLDG fully integrates with existing systems and includes Brightwave's learning management system 'Launch and Track' to support online 360 degree appraisals, as well as evaluation and tracking tools. Training modules as part of the new e-learning service will be ready for use by early 2010 and will incorporate new self-authored programmes developed by each council, customisable off-the-shelf learning modules, new fully bespoke programmes as well as existing materials.
CVLDG’s e-learning initiative will enable councils to collaborate and share costs, avoid duplication in training, provide consistent learning programmes and offer equal learning opportunities for all Clyde Valley staff. It follows recent success at Renfrewshire and North Lanarkshire Councils, as well as Glasgow City Council, where Brightwave delivered a new e-learning environment for its 37,000 employees. This enabled the council to take control in the design, delivery, tracking and management of its training.
...delivering consistent and cost-effective online training for all Clyde Valley staff.
Gerry Farrell, Project Manager for CVLDG said: “Following a detailed tender process, Brightwave was clearly the most experienced and capable e-learning specialist to ensure we could meet our vision of delivering consistent and cost-effective online training for all Clyde Valley staff. Brightwave shares our vision for a more collaborative future and their technological expertise and highly engaging programmes made them the obvious first choice for this new service.”
Charles Gould added: “Clyde Valley is leading the public service agenda in working collaboratively across councils to save costs whilst improving the training and development opportunities for its staff. Brightwave’s local government e-learning service has already been successfully implemented in a number of Scottish councils including Edinburgh, Glasgow and Renfrewshire so we are delighted that the high uptake and positive feedback from these authorities is encouraging more councils to get involved and develop their e-learning offering.
“The Clyde Valley e-learning project is a substantial and far-reaching initiative and we’re delighted to be involved in delivering a world-class e-learning platform for such a large group of employees, which will ultimately benefit the tax-payers in this region,” concluded Gould.
