British Red Cross teams up with Brightwave for staff induction
Communicating core values through a stimulating visual concept
The British Red Cross has selected Brightwave, the workplace learning and performance specialist, to develop their brand new online corporate induction programme. The British Red Cross has over 3,000 staff and 30,000 volunteers based across the UK, and induct on average 100 people per month.
"We chose to work with Brightwave because they demonstrated the capability to deliver a package that will help our new starters understand more about what we do and, critically, our organisational values," said Dominic Fry, Head of Learning & Development for the British Red Cross.
He commented: "With so many new starters dispersed across the UK we needed to find a way of ensuring that everyone has access to the information they need when they join. With e-learning people can select from a mix of modules with other activities throughout the induction process, from pre-joining to ongoing local support."
The visually stimulating e-learning module is situated within a virtual high street with the user facing various practical, intellectual and moral scenarios that relate to the Red Cross core principles.
The online training is also supported by a series of materials and networking events to give the British Red Cross increased flexibility to provide a more detailed induction experience at the time and place of need.
"Surveys by the CIPD show that the majority of training professionals support our long held view that learning is more effective when using a carefully designed mix of media that include e-learning and more traditional approaches," said Lars Hyland, Director of Learning Services for Brightwave.
Lars concluded: "Indeed, we have gone further to implement a holistic model that brings together best practices in communication, learning and performance support. This serves to deliver a more integrated learning solution for our clients."
