Brightwave to design online induction for West Sussex County Council
Developing an integrated learning programme to reach a large community of learners
Brightwave, the workplace learning and performance specialist, has been chosen to develop an online induction programme for West Sussex County Council (WSCC). With more than 24,000 employees the Council serves more than 750,000 citizens in the south-east and provides an enormous range of services from education to waste management.
"We induct on average 2,000 new staff every year and by using an online induction programme we can ensure that all new joiners can get up to speed quickly and cost effectively," said Dawn Howard, People Development Consultant for the West Sussex County Council. "We chose to work with Brightwave because we found their approach innovative and creative."
When creating a learning solution Brightwave uses a holistic model that brings together best practices in communication, learning and performance support to ensure success.
"We therefore recommended that the Council use a staged approach starting with a CD-ROM for pre-joiners, a module for managers in charge of the new joiners, and a main course for new staff to take once they have started," said Charles Gould, Managing Director for Brightwave. "It was also very important for West Sussex County Council that the whole programme is compliant with accessibility legislation and available to those without technology."
The integrated programme will help the WSCC to reach its whole community with cost effective training, bringing learners quickly up to speed with what they need to work successfully and happily in the Council - including a clear picture of where they fit into the organisation.
