Online training for non-lawyers helps minimise an organisation’s legal risk
Following the latest report from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) which confirmed the number of incidents of personal data theft or loss has risen to ‘unacceptable levels’ and with fines being introduced next year, it’s crucial that businesses better understand the legal risks associated with data management. With this is mind, Brightwave today announces their new Legal Risk E-Learning Service in partnership with PLC, which incorporates a course on data protection.
The new Legal Risk E-Learning Service helps an organisation stay compliant, simply and effectively, through a series of off-the-shelf and customisable e-learning programmes which are aimed at non-lawyers. Companies receive a fully managed service, direct support, customisation options, learner tracking and reporting, as well as the assurance that PLC's team of legal experts regularly review the legal content on which the courses are based. Interested companies can sign up for a free demo via the website.
Brightwave’s Legal Risk E-Learning Service helps an organisation (and in-house legal teams) meet compliance regulations by providing a learning tool to educate non-legal staff about legal risk. The courses are highly engaging and interactive with practical exercises and reference materials which can be completed at home or in the workplace.
Other courses include contract negotiations, e-mail and online risk, hiring and dismissing employees and acquisitions. The service is fully managed and hosted by Brightwave and uses the company’s ‘Launch and Track’ software to monitor and evaluate take-up. It’s also available in numerous languages and can be customised to include links to company policies and internal legal department contacts if required.
Charles Gould, MD at Brightwave said: “Our new Legal Risk E-Learning Service is a flexible and simple solution to help businesses avoid legal risk by educating and informing their staff on the front-line. We’re delighted to be working with one of the country’s leading legal publishers, Practical Law Company, to ensure the content remains up-to-date and highly effective.”
Elizabeth Woodman, Head of new UK sectors at Practical Law Company added: “With an increasing global focus on compliance and the need for an audit trail, it’s absolutely crucial to ensure that all employees are up-to-speed on avoiding legal risk. Online training is a great way to transfer this knowledge and these jargon-free, practical courses are a great tool for organisations and a useful aid for the in-house legal team."
