Venue: Olympia 2 Conference Centre, London (Seminar Theatre 1)
Date: Wednesday 26th January, 2-3pm
A high-profile panel featuring some of the industry's leading learning tech experts will examine learning and development's capability to support UK PLC's upturn strategy and the crucial role learning technologies can play. The Question Time style debate will also feature live audience voting to further assess mood and expectations.
Hosted by e-learning specialist Brightwave the debate - A road map to 2020: How can learning technologies support fast-changing business practice? - will focus on what learning and development professionals must do to maximise impact and play a significant strategic role in business development. It will be held at Learning Technologies 2011 - Europe's leading conference / exhibition - at Olympia 2, London on Wednesday 26th January.
Panellists:
- Chair - Donald H Taylor, Chairman, Learning and Skills Group & Learning Technologies
- Charles Gould, Managing Director, Brightwave
- Laura Overton, Managing Director, Towards Maturity
- Kenny Henderson, Head of Talent Development Operations, Sky
Some discussion in the debate will be based upon brand new research, conducted by Brightwave, which explores the impact technology-enabled workplace learning has made over the last 10 years and the UK's expectations and needs for the next decade.
- 45% say they are leading business change through application of technology now
- 96% say this must happen in the future
- 37% say that the L&D function have the ability to support upturn strategy now
- 93% say this must happen in the future
The debate audience will be able to decide on the following issues using TurningPoint voting technology:-
- What role will learning technologies play over the next 10 years to help staff perform at their best in a constantly changing environment?
- What are our current priorities and do they need to change?
- What technologies can help us step up?
- Apart from technology what else do we need to put in place?
- What influential learning trends from our personal lives can impact performance in the workplace?
Brightwave MD Charles Gould said in anticipation of the event: "Our findings show that L&D professionals are striving to be more strategic in how they support the productivity and competitiveness of their organisation. It's clear that learning technologies can help with this important shift. However, unless best practice is employed this goal will remain aspirational. Our debate will explore what needs to be done to make sure we're not asking the same questions in 2020. After all, no organisation has that luxury."
