Brightwave, e-learning development company of the year, today confirms 40 % of Scottish Councils have signed up to its Local Government E-Learning Service, supporting over 140,000 employees. As councils are faced with the task of maintaining workforce development amidst the most stringent cuts in decades, this common platform enables them to provide online training to drive efficiency and support people to deliver excellent frontline services.
To support UK councils, Brightwave also announces a new event aimed at public sector HR and L&D specialists – the free e-learning event takes place in Glasgow’s International Football Stadium on 16 September. To find out more and register, go to www.brightwave.co.uk/delivering-change.
This public sector ‘development’ day will incorporate case studies and sessions from Gill Bhatti, Chair of the Clyde Valley Learning & Development Group and Paul McGhee, Leadership and Development Manager for the City of Edinburgh Council. Sky’s Head of Talent Development Operations, Kenny Henderson and Brightwave’s Director of E-Learning Services, Lars Hyland will also lead presentations.
Charles Gould, Managing Director at Brightwave said: “Councils are currently facing incredibly tough conditions, with huge spending cuts, job losses and the danger of low morale. During these times, it's more important than ever to deliver effective development and training programmes to support and deliver this change. Sharing key services across councils, such as e-learning training programmes, is one modern method to help improve those development programmes whilst keeping costs down.
Charles added: “We hope that this one day event will help, not only local authorities, but all public services across the country meet their new budget targets.”
