In the year 2020... crystal ball gazing Brightwave style
As part of our 'What a difference' campaign we have been casting our collective minds into the future in order to predict how technology will improve the quality of our lives a decade from now. We've not relied on crystal balls, tea leaves or psychic octopuses - just the power of insight and a little imagination.

Here's a selection of the predictions across various Brightwave departments:
"There will be no more 'formal' online training modules as everything will be just in time guidance and information as you need it. Most of what we do will be on handhelds." James Cory-Wright, Head of Instructional Design
"My predictions are that people will be working much more flexibly - from home, remotely from wherever they are. And learning will be happening more at home/on the move. Also, learning applications on the Wii or Xbox will be standard, and when you join a company you'll be given your induction disc which plugs into your console at home and accesses the modules you need via a web interface." Fiona Nunn, Project Manager
"In ten years' time we will finally have dropped the 'e' from e-Learning, and it will simply be known as 'Learning'. No one will be talking about 'Blended' learning anymore…." Ashley Wheaton, Group Sales Director
"As a learner logs in for some e-learning a picture is taken. Then, as they go through the simulations and questions an avatar mimics the person's voice and movements as if they were present in the scenario. Also, I predict multi-interactive screens where a number of people can learn at the simultaneously from remote locations. Finally I would expect more portable projectors - perhaps built in to laptops." Richard Andrews, Office Manager
"By the year 2020 I think we will have holographic DAB sets - because as they've always said - the best pictures are on the radio." Peter Styles, Content Editor
As you can probably tell - this is just a bit of fun - we won't be holding anyone to account in ten years time. However, it is an interesting exercise to think how far we could have progressed by then. After all, it was only just ten years ago when the term e-learning was coined.
How do you see learning technology in the year 2020? I predict you might just write in and tell us...
