Accessibility

We have designed our website with accessibility in mind. The site is coded to strict standards to ensure that it can operate across multiple platforms and browsers so that all users can access content, regardless of any personal disability.

Access keys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the website.

On Windows: press ALT + an access key then press enter.

On Macintosh: press CTRL + an access key then press enter.

You can use the following access keys for our site:

  • Access key 1: home page
  • Access key 2: brightideas
  • Access key 3: what we do
  • Access key 4: how we work
  • Access key 5: our clients
  • Access key 6: news
  • Access key 7: about us
  • Access key 8: contact us
  • Access key 9: client login

Standards compliance

We have tried to ensure, as far as possible, that:

  • all pages on this site comply with all priority 1 and 2 guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
  • all pages on this site should validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional
  • all pages on this site use structured semantic markup. h1 tags are used for main titles, h2 tags for subtitles (and so on)

Some legacy pages might not currently conform to these standards, however, we are doing our best to ensure all future web pages are compliant with W3C guidelines for accessibility.

Images

We use descriptive alt tags for all content images on this site. Purely decorative graphics include null tags. Complex images may include longdesc tags or inline descriptions to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers.

Visual design

We primarily use cascading style sheets for visual layout and relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified 'text size' option in visual browsers. If you need to change the 'text size' in your web browser:

  • Go to View / Text Size if you are using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox
  • Go to View / Text Zoom if you are using Netscape
  • Go to View / Zoom if you are using Opera

If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets at all, the content of each page should still be readable.
