Brightwave Crosses the Border

Date posted: Sept 2002

As Scotland’s e-learning market grows, Brightwave, the e-learning specialist, has opened a new office in Edinburgh to meet a growing demand for bespoke e-learning in Scotland .

The office will be overseen by Senior Technologist, Mike Dalglish, a recent addition to Brightwave, who has previously worked with Click2Learn, The Royal Bank of Scotland, and Epic.

The new office, which coincides with Brightwave joining the Scottish e-Learning Alliance, follows a summer of high activity in the Scottish e-learning market. With the Scottish Executive planning a £2.3 million e-learning centre, and over 40,000 school pupils expected to use Edinburgh’s Herriot-Watt University’s new SCHOLAR programme this year, Scotland is being hailed as the new Capital City of e-learning.

Mike Dalglish agrees: “Scotland will enjoy a massive boom in e-learning over the next few years. It’s important that Brightwave is well placed to be a part of that and with our new offices here I'm very excited about the possibilities ahead!”

Mike has extensive experience with bespoke content development, technical e-learning standards, and learning management system integration, having worked with seven different LMSs. He will be responsible for Brightwave's involvement in emerging standards as well as providing technical consultancy on content projects.

Simon Brown, Brightwave’s Commercial Director explained, “Following our successful work with ScottishPower, Brightwave has had considerable interest from companies in Scotland. We are pleased to establish a permanent presence in Edinburgh to meet our client’s requirements.”
