New health & safety induction programme wins the 2004 Scottish eLearning Award

Mike Dalglish and Jackie Henry receive the award ScottishPower's health and safety programme scooped the award against tough competition during the eLearning alliance award dinner on 3 December. Created using Brightwave's online content development tool, WavePool, the course is part of ScottishPower's induction programme and was initially aimed at new employees in the Customer Sales and Service business. Due to its success it is now in the process of being rolled-out to the rest of that business' 4,700 employees.

"I am extremely proud that the efforts of the Scottish Power e-learning team have been recognised," said Jackie Henry, E-Learning Manager for ScottishPower. "We have worked hard over the last three years to design and develop effective and interesting e-learning tailored for our company and this award clearly shows that our efforts have paid off. The ongoing support from Brightwave means that we can continue to push the boundaries and stay at the top."

Jackie Anderson, UK Director of Learning for Scottish Power commented about the award win, "The use of e-learning is growing and technology is forever changing. Here at ScottishPower we have a proven resource that aims to stay at the top. We have a fantastic authoring tool and an award winning team that works in partnership with our customers to meet their needs. This is a fantastic achievement!"

WavePool is an online, process-driven, content development environment. It has been developed by Brightwave to design, create, deploy and manage bespoke interactive e-learning content for large organisations. Unlike other self-authoring products on the market WavePool is not an off-the-shelf product. Both the product and the services around it are modified according to the needs of individual clients.

"Putting the development power directly in the hands of the content expert helps clients to create professional solutions both quickly and cost-effectively," said Charles Gould, Managing Director for Brightwave. "We are delighted that ScottishPower won the award amongst such high quality competition, and we are confident that WavePool will continue to support their training needs both now and in the future."
