Accelerate and improve the effectiveness of your employee induction programme.

Managing the integration of new employees is a constant requirement for all organisations that are growing or undergoing significant change. It is also probably the largest ongoing training investment you make, especially where staff retention is a significant issue. So managing this investment wisely will pay huge dividends in maintaining high levels of productivity and performance at all levels.

Try answering these questions when reviewing your current induction training programmes:

  • Do new joiners have to wait days, even weeks, before they get induction training?
  • Is there pressure to reduce the time taken to complete the induction programme?
  • Are new employees genuinely oriented in their new role and ready to perform at the required level?
  • Is the induction personalised to the role and experience of each individual?
  • Do people have sufficient support both before and after the main induction training has been completed?
  • Could your existing employees benefit from an induction refresher on your organisation’s current structure, management policies and best practices?
  • What about your partners/resellers/key customers – could they benefit from a better understanding of your organisation?

Our approach

Diagram of our induction approach

We know how important it is to get your new employees up to speed as soon as possible. We work closely with you to identify ways in which to accelerate and improve the induction experience so that new joiners feel both motivated and productive in their workplace.

Common activities that can be effectively delivered using e-learning include:

  • Corporate story, mission and values.
  • Organisational structure.
  • Company policies.
  • Regulatory training (such as health and safety, data protection, money laundering).
  • IT systems simulation.
  • Product/service knowledge.
  • Virtual scenarios capturing best practice.
  • Virtual site visits.
  • Formal assessment.

Integrating e-learning into your wider induction programme accelerates delivery and creates more time for you to coach, mentor and provide remedial support to individuals where required.

As well as developing interactive e-learning, we can work with you to develop a common set of materials for use across all induction activities, from presentations, web sites, workbooks, and performance support tools.

Pre-arrival

There can be few times when motivation to learn is higher than immediately before you start a new job. Brightwave produces Induction Training online, securely hosted on the Internet so that learning can begin before the new employee starts work.

When the job is accepted and the contract signed, the new employee is given access to a password-protected induction web site. By incorporating individual coach-mentoring support, key skills assessments and self-assessment exercises, an initial Learning and Development Plan can be put into action straight away.

The benefits

The immediate benefits of using e-learning both pre-arrival and within your induction programme include:

  • Receive the new employee on Day 1 already aware of key facts and concepts about your organisation and perhaps already equipped with an initial Development Plan.
  • Foster a culture of learning and development from the very start of the employer-employee relationship.
  • Free your training staff to deliver more specific competency-based training.
  • Reduce the cost of repeating expensive classroom training for new employees.
  • Provide induction training that can be repeatedly accessed and taken at any time.
  • Provide induction training that can be maintained and updated with ease.
